This is a TED talk that addresses a fundamental challenge of our time. A combination of increasing productivity and efficiency, robotics taking over work humans once did, and the off-shoring of work to cheaper labor markets is eroding the demand for human labor. The job market is shrinking, but our economic system has no way to adapt to it. This is a challenge that must be addressed. The billionaire oligarchs, who are benefiting from the current system that funnels all the wealth to them, won’t like the change that’s coming. Bottom line: the way economics will work in the future will serve the interest of all the people, not just the lucky handful at the top.
