Hillary Andares, a teenager from the Philippines, made a video explaining Einstein’s view of relativity. Not an easy concept for anyone to grasp. I’ve had to relearn relativity many times. In my case, simply because it’s an idea that requires regular attention to remain clear in one’s mind. Ms. Andares entered her video in the Breakthrough Junior Challenge and won for her very engaging explanation of relativity. This Filipino teen also proved that intellectual acumen is a function of exceptional smarts combined with opportunity, and is not limited by either gender or ethnicity.
